Ronnie, Emmanuel (with his new deck), and Scott

Recently we were asked to be a part of a three day Christian concert event called “The Big Ticket Festival”. We agreed, not really knowing how we would fit in. We made the best of our time in the skatepark hanging out with kids and skating around. On Saturday afternoon we met Emmanuel and our purpose was revealed. Emmanuel is a 19 year old college student from just outside of Chicago. He had recently committed his life to Jesus and was desperately seeking direction. He loves skateboarding, but honestly doesn’t see how that fits into his new commitment to God. God spoke to us and we were able to share with him about how God will use him, and how his talents were God given. Shortly after this discussion God put it on our heart to give him a skateboard deck. Emmanuel was brought to tears as he realized that God was speaking to his heart through us. I recently received an email from Emmanuel and wanted to share with you what he wrote:

“How are you doing? This is Emmanuel the skateboarder from the Big Ticket concert. I just want to thank you for what you did for me back there. All the fellowship and love that you shared with me really meant a lot. I have been telling everybody about what happened to me. I have told all of my friends about not giving up on their dreams because of the stories you have shared with me. Thank you again for being apart of my day at the concert it sincerely meant a lot to me. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you and God Bless You.”

I just wanted to take a moment to encourage you to always be ready to share what God has put in you. You never know when it will change a life. 1Peter 3:15 tells us to “…always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;”. What looked like a waste of our time turned into one of the best opportunities to minister. We know the vision God has put in us, and we see how we can play a role in raising up a generation to preach this Gospel to the world.

Are you ready to share at any moment? Who is God asking you to share with?
