Kentucky Flood Relief!
At the end of July, 3 days of heavy rain caused the Kentucky River to rise 25 feet overnight. Thirty-seven people lost their lives in the devastating flash floods. Entire homes were swept into the river, and thousands more were severely damage
We’ve partnered with Happy Church in Jackson, Kentucky to help with their flood relief efforts. The church itself had 11 of its 12 buildings damaged across 2 campuses. Six of those buildings were homes for staff.
Happy Church is a mission church, reaching out to Appalachian communities. With the average person earning just $15k a year, the needs were already so great before the flood. Thank you for helping us support the church as they reach out to their community!
Madeline and Emily’s Corner
The girls had so much fun during our August travels!
We were able to go to the Ingalls Homestead in DeSmet, SD and learn all about life on a prairie, pretend to be farmers while picking apples, peaches and plums in South Haven, MI, and spend a few days being spoiled by grandparents when Dara’s parents came to visit in Chicago, IL.
One of the highlights of the summer was getting our new puppy, Liberty! She’s been a great companion on our girls’ hikes, keeping us safe from snakes and bugs.
The girls are both excited about starting school back up in September. When asked what grade they’re in, they just tell people they’re homeschooled!
