Two Projects in the Works

There are two projects in the works for RSUM and our Matthew 25 Project. As you may already know, the Matthew 25 Project is a benevolence fund we are setting up to help people in need. It will cover a broad area of needs, but was inspired by the idea of  helping those in disaster areas with immediate help. The criteria for receiving this help has not yet been fully established. It is critical to have a base of requirements for this fund, but in the end it all comes down to direction from God as to where to use the funds. In the two cases we are working with, it comes down to just following the direction of the Holy Spirit.

The first project is to help a couple that I work with. They live in a trailer that very badly needs a new roof. It has been leaking for a few years and they periodically get it patched, unable to get the roof replaced because of finances. I have seen the roof and advised them to contact their insurance company because most of the damage is caused by high winds.  We hope to hear from them soon so we can better determine their financial need. I will keep you posted through this blog and on the Right Side Up Ministries website.

The second project is a partnership with a church in Haiti. When RSUM went to Haiti a few weeks after the earthquake we met a pastor named Lionel Zephyr. He was our companion during most of our trip and I had many opportunities to talk with him about his church and his ministry. It has been on my heart since then to help him out financially. I have prayed and believe that now is the time. He has a whole list of needs, which I will share at another time, that amount to close to $10,000.00 U.S. It seems like a huge task as I look at it now, but I know that God is big enough to conquer even the most difficult of situations. Haiti is in the midst of some major political unrest, as well as recovering from the earthquake and cholera outbreak, and there is no better time than now to get involved. I know that we have had our own financial issues here in the U.S., but it pales in comparison to what has been happening in Haiti. The estimates are still outlandish as to how many people live in tents and go without food, water, and medical attention. Governments and organizations have dropped the ball in the recovery efforts. Our time of impact is now. Through this partnership we will be able to see people find hope and healing in Jesus. We will also see children fed and taken care of.
